-
Skip the Sun and Tanning Beds
UV exposure increases the skin’s sensitivity and risk of irritation during laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal also works best on skin that’s lighter than the hair, so tanning decreases the treatment’s effectiveness.
Avoid direct sunlight and tanning for around 4 weeks before your appointment.
2. No Waxing, Plucking, or Threading (But Do Shave)
A few weeks before your appointment, discontinue waxing, plucking, and threading. These methods remove the root of the hair from the follicle, which is what our advanced Diolaze laser targets—specifically, the melanin in the hair follicle.
However, shaving only removes the portion of hair above the skin, leaving the root itself in the follicle. We recommend shaving a day or two before your appointment, that way none of the hair shaft will interfere with the laser treatment.
3. Arrive With Clean, Makeup-Free Skin

Treatment is most accurate and efficient on clean skin. Avoid wearing makeup to your appointment for facial hair removal in Fort Lauderdale. Furthermore, creams, lotions, dirt, and oil can absorb some of the laser’s energy, causing less of that energy to be directed into the follicles themselves, regardless of the chosen treatment area.
