For some people, doctor’s visits can bring on anxiety.
“I often worry that I won’t have my medical concerns listened to fully.”
“They know this secret about you that could change your life.”
These concerns are completely valid, which is why we’re committed to giving you the undivided attention and compassionate care you deserve, and that starts with transparency. Here’s what to expect when you come to Galt Dermatology & Concierge Medicine for a breast cancer screening in Fort Lauderdale.
1. Consultation
Our doctors always take the time to get to know you first. From reviewing your medical history and lifestyle to talking through your struggles and goals, this is a safe space to talk about sensitive issues.
We’ll help you identify any risk factors, but remember, annual breast exams are important even if you don’t have a family history of breast cancer. Our women’s care physician, Dr. Stella Villacorta, battled breast cancer herself—despite her lack of predispositions—so she’s dedicated to preventative care.
Unlike traditional healthcare providers that offer reactive treatments, we prioritize comprehensive, proactive care to increase your treatment options and maximize their effectiveness.
We’re here to guide you, not talk over your head.
As a concierge medicine practice, we’ve eliminated the anxieties that come with insurance hoops, long wait times, and rushed appointments because you deserve our undivided attention.
2. Screening
After your consultation, we’ll ask you to undress from the waist up and provide a drape for your privacy. Then, we’ll visually inspect your breasts, noting any changes in their size, shape, or skin texture, such as swelling or dimpling.
Next, we’ll perform a physical examination—feeling your breasts and underarms in pressing and circular motions to identify any lumps or tenderness. If we find any abnormalities during your breast cancer screening in Fort Lauderdale, we’ll recommend further tests—such as mammograms, MRIs, or ultrasounds—to see what’s going on beneath the surface.
3. Follow-Up
Once we receive your lab results, we’ll take the time to discuss our findings with you, explaining what they mean and helping you plan your next steps. If you’d like a second opinion on your results, we’ll work with a breast cancer radiologist. Then, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on our findings and your risk factors, which may include a mixture of self-exams, more frequent visits, and lifestyle modifications.
If you have questions after you’ve left our office, remember that as a concierge patient, you have 24/7 access to your doctor. You can always call or text them directly or schedule an online doctor visit in Fort Lauderdale.
